DHSK observes World Blood Donation Day across Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, June 14 (KNO) : The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) today observed World Blood Donation Day all over the valley. As per news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the major function was held at Old GB Pant Hospital Sonwar Srinagar where a blood donation function was held by DHSK in collaboration with Badami Bagh Cantonment Medical Dispensary. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Shri Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar in presence of Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Shri Bhupinder Kumar. CEO Badami Bagh Cantonment Board Mr johns vikas, was also present. Besides this the function was also attended by MS JLNM Hospital Srinagar Dr Tajamul, Dr. Anjum qadri epidemiologist Kashmir and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan assistant Director DHSK besides other officers and officialsof DHSK.The Diginitries interacted with donor's and appreciated their humane gesture. During his speech, Shri RR Bhatnagar stressed on the importance of blood donation and congratulated the health department and organizers for holding such camps and generating awareness among people about blood donation. He said saving lives is the most important virtue of the mankind and people should be encouraged to go for blood donation. Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Shri Bhupinder Kumar appreciated the doctors and other health care workers. He said the department has upgraded blood component separation in district hospitals. He stressed for the need to encourage and appreciate the blood donors who have been continuously donating blood for the saving the lives of others. MS JLNM Hospital Srinagar Dr Tajamul presented vote thanks and thanked the organizers and blood donors who had come for the blood donation. Meanwhile, blood donations camps were also held across Kashmir valley in various district and sub district hospitals organized by CMOs, Medical Superintendents, BMOs of the respective districts. In the blood donation camps a total of 474 blood pints were collected from donors that include 112 at DH Budgam, 25 at DH Bandipora, 25 at SDH Chadoora, 50 at DH Handwara, 23 at DH Ganderbal, 34 at SDH Kupwara, 43 at DH Kulgam, 25 at DH Pulwama, 73 at JLNM Srinagar and other places, 43 at DH Shopian and 21 at SDH Sopore--(KNO)
